TCS joined several groups to call attention to an attempt by the Pentagon to classify the Future Years Defense Spending (FYDP), an outyear projection of spending that has been presented in an unclassified form for decades. Classifying these projections can serve but one purpose: to obscure inevitable cost overruns, particularly in the hefty pricetags of procurement programs.

With annual spending on national security topping $700 billion, now is the time for more transparency and oversight, not less.
