Taxpayers for Common Sense sent the following letter to members of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee before the legislative hearing on the Revive Economic Growth and Reclaim Orphaned Wells Act, or “REGROW” Act (S. 1076) on June 16, 2021. As Congress seeks to address the reclamation of orphaned wells, TCS urges lawmakers to support federal oil and gas bonding reform to prevent wells from becoming orphaned in the future, increase industry accountability and to protect taxpayers from paying the cleanup bill.
