The Royalty Policy Committee (RPC), an advisory panel formed last spring by Interior Secretary Zinke, met in late February in Houston, TX. While that meeting was public, the Department of the Interior’s (DOI’s) presentations to the RPC subcommittees leading up to the meeting have not been made publicly available.

Taxpayer for Common Sense has obtained, via request to the Department of the interior, agency presentations to the RPC subcommittees. These presentations are from the Office of Natural Resource Revenue, Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, and the Bureau of Land Management regarding various management, royalty, and valuation processes.

TCS has been closely following the activities of the DOI’s RPC. Since its formation last year, the RPC has considered several proposals which would cost taxpayers valuable revenue and create increased taxpayer liabilities. TCS will continue to monitor the RPC’s activities at its June and September meetings.’
