Budget, tax, and spending decisions are about more than numbers, they are reflections of our priorities.

These decisions, and their rationale, should be transparent and accountable to the nation’s taxpayers. Policymakers continue to fail in our national budgeting, as evidenced by a national debt larger than our entire economy. Since the last reform in 1986 the tax code has become a jumbled thicket of special interest carve-outs and breaks.

Taxpayers for Common Sense wades into the budgetary details, rooting out waste and poor performing programs.

We make our detailed analyses available to policymakers, the media, and the public. We advocate for common sense solutions: an effective and accountable budget process, spending oversight and transparency, and a fairer tax code that will raise enough revenue to fund the government and better serve taxpayers instead of tax preparers and lawyers.
