On Tuesday, TCS and 20 other groups from across the ideological spectrum sent a letter to the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs ahead of its consideration of several measures to reform the Offices of Inspectors General that monitor federal agencies to identify waste, fraud, and abuse. The coalition urged lawmakers to adopt reforms that would strengthen the important role of the Inspectors General by better insulating the offices from political influence and bolstering their ability to compel witness testimony.
