The Senate passed the bailout bill 74-25 this evening. Here is the rollcall for the vote.

This is what we had to say about the Senate vote earlier today. The House of Representatives is expected to vote on the legislation this Friday.

The Senate was always predicted to have an easier time moving the bill. But considering how much time Senator Reid spent on elements of the added-on tax package, it wasn't clear if it was an end-of-the-year rider or legislative grease.

We will be closely analyzing all the provisions, but one that Sen. Reid spent  time highlighting was PILT (Payment In Lieu of Taxes). This program pays communities/states for land that isn't on tax rolls because the federal government owns the property. Tomorrow TCS will have more on this and other non-bailout provisions hopping a ride on the bailout package.
