East West Bancorp, Inc. is a bank holding for East West Bank, which provides baking services at 70 branches in the Los Angeles metropolitan area, Orange County, the San Francisco Bay area, including San Mateo County, the Silicon Valley area in Santa Clara County and Alameda County, one branch in Houston, Texas, and three international locations in Hong Kong, Beijing, and Shanghai. The company is headquartered in Pasadena, California, and is the second largest bank headquartered in Los Angeles.
The primary spokesperson for East West Bank is American figure skater Michele Kwan, and the bank owns the naming rights to the East West Ice Palace, a skating rink located in Artesia, California. East West Bank also owns the naming rights for the East West Bank Classic, an annual tennis event held in Carson, California.
Through the Treasury Department’s Capital Purchase Program, East West Bancorp received $306.5 million, in exchange for 306,546 shares of its Fix Rate Cumulative Perpetual Preferred Stock, Series B and a warrant to purchase more than 3 million shares of the company’s common stock.
