Economists from the Department of Agriculture, former government officials, financial analysts, and agriculture policy advocates joined the American Enterprise Institute for a discussion on the state of the U.S. farm economy. Several topics were discussed, including farm finance and agriculture business structure, how the COVID-19 pandemic impacted farm incomes, climate concerns, and the allocation of government subsidies and programs on farms of various sizes. They also addressed the factors to consider during the reauthorization of the farm bill, which was being negotiated in Congress and was set to expire on September 30, 2023.
