On February 27, 2024, four expert panelists joined Taxpayers for Common Sense (TCS) in a Zoom discussion about farm safety net programs in the farm bill, including crop insurance, commodity subsidies, and conservation supports. Panelists with deep knowledge of farm bill programs included John Campbell, Dr. Cory Walters, Scott Kinkaid, and Wendy Johnson, with Sheila Korth of TCS moderating. Together, the panelists have decades of experience farming and ranching, utilizing agricultural conservation practices, researching farm program impacts on the agricultural sector and rural communities, and working at both USDA and on Capitol Hill.

With Congress debating reauthorization of the farm bill in 2024, lawmakers must listen to individuals directly affected by the bill and create fiscally responsible farm policy that works for taxpayers and farmers alike.
