On Wednesday, Taxpayers for Common Sense invited Members of Congress to attend an upcoming briefing on the federal coal program. Details on the event, which is free and open to the public, are provided below:
BRIEFING: “Helping Taxpayers Realize Fair Return for our Nation’s Coal Resources”
Tuesday, May 10th at 9:30am
Cannon House Office Building, Room 421
Federal coal is a significant part of our nation's energy mix and, like all federally owned natural resources, an important source of taxpayer revenue. But from the designation of lease tracts to the reclamation of abandoned mines, the federal coal program has long been a source of controversy for failing to provide a fair return to taxpayers. As the Department of the Interior prepares to kick-off a series of public hearings on May 17, join us for a discussion on DOI’s review of the federal coal program and opportunities for reform.
